Dear Brothers in Christ,
With the blessing of His Grace, our Bishop NIKON, at the request of the Diocesan Council, a Special Assembly has been called to respond, as a Diocese, in a definitive manner, positively or negatively, to the recommendation of the Diocesan Residence Committee to authorize the Diocesan Council to sell the Diocesan Residence in Cumberland, RI.
The Special Assembly will be held on Wednesday, May 21, 2008 at Holy Trinity Church, New Britain, CT at 7:00 p.m. All parishes are requested to send a clergy and lay delegate to decide this one issue. As a reminder, according to the Statute of the Orthodox Church in America, Article VIII, Section 6; Requirements for Representation at the Diocesan Assembly:
Every parish in the Diocese which has remitted all established assessments determined by previous All-American Councils for the support of the Church's central organization and all assessments determined by previous Diocesan Assemblies is entitled to elect lay delegates equal in number to the priests and deacons maintained by the parish. Parishes not having a priest are entitled to one lay delegate. The parish will cover the expenses connected with the participation of its priests and elected lay delegates in the Assembly.
Please print out the attached registration form, which is to be completed by the parish rector and lay delegate (plus deacon and lay delegate if one is assigned). Then send the completed form by April 20, 2008 to:
V. Rev. David Koles Diocesan Secretary 9 Frankie Lane Terryville, CT 06786
Looking forward to hearing from everyone so that we can take care of this important item of business.
Your servant in Christ,
Fr. David Koles Diocesan Secretary
